Hollywood star James Franco eyes up London theatre debut
15/1/09 – Spiderman actor James Franco reveals his West End ambitions on GMTV

London’s West End looks set for a sizzling summer – as Hollywood heart-throb, James Franco, told GMTV he’s been eyeing up potential theatre roles in the capital.

The actor, who played Harry Osborn and the New Green Goblin, revealed he hopes to tread the London boards later this year: “I would like it – I’m actually, I’m thinking about it maybe this summer – I can’t say anything yet but…” Asked if he had his eye on any roles, James said: “Yeah, yeah, maybe…”

Currently starring in the new movie, Milk, James tipped co-star Sean Penn for an Academy Award for his portrayal of the openly gay San Francisco politician, Harvey Milk:

He said: “I’m a little biased, but for my money I think he is the best performance of the year.

“He’s a very passionate guy…he’s very intense…but he was great. Someone like him – of his statue – could easily come onto the set and intimate everyone there, but he was the complete opposite.”
