Mar 16 - James Franco Joins Nick at Nite Telenovela Hollywood Heights
Mar 16, 2012 • Category: Uncategorized0 Comments

James Franco will be in a mutli-episode arc on Nick at Nite’s upcoming primetime soap Hollywood Heights, the network announced today. What magic is this! The show, formerly known as Reach for the Stars, is based on a Mexican series about a shy girl who becomes a pop star after winning a songwriting competition. Along the way, she befriends a mega-rock-star — who is of course her celebrity crush. Heights premieres in June and will air five nights a week, telenovela style, but it’s not clear yet when Franco’s arc starts or what his role entails. If there’s a God in TV heaven, though, it’s someone incredibly sage and hilarious.

Jan 31 - Seyfriend and Franco Get Flirty on Lovelace Set
Jan 31, 2012 • Category: Uncategorized0 Comments

Amanda Seyfried and James Franco don’t have a love scene in “Lovelace” — but maybe they should have.

A source on the set of the movie — which stars Seyfried as pioneering porn star Linda Lovelace and Franco as Playboy owner Hugh Hefner — tells us the actors were totally into each other during a 12-hour shoot in Los Angeles on Thursday. “I thought it was for the movie,” says the source, “but every time there was a break, they kept talking to each other and flirting back and forth.”

The eyewitness adds that, at one point, the two actors continued their conversation oblivious to the hair and makeup people who were primping them for the next scene.

When the cast and crew broke for dinner, the insider also notes that Franco and Seyfried did not join their co-stars, who included Chris Noth and Peter Sarsgaard in the VIP chow truck.

According to the source, Franco was available for only one day of shooting and the producers shot all of his scenes from Thursday at 1 p.m. to Friday morning at 1 a.m.

Although the scenes arent particularly provocative, they do depict Hefner flirting with Lovelace. The source explains that they center around Hef’s screening of Lovelace’s infamous porn movie, “Deep Throat,” at the Playboy Mansion. Hefner, who’s flanked by two Playmates, greets Lovelace on the red carpet by kissing her hand and asks her pornographer husband, Chuck Traynor, if he can trade the two blonds on his arms for his wife. He then escorts Lovelace into the theater.

Jan 22 - James to be replaced by Bloom?
Jan 22, 2009 • Category: Uncategorized0 Comments

In my desperate search to figure out something to write about I was going to write an article asking “Where did Julie Stiles go?” Then I found out she is acting on Broadway and that pretty much killed that article. However, I guess I could have also asked “Where did Orlando Bloom go?” Bloom didn’t have a single movie in 2008 and only Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End in 2007. In fact 2006 didn’t do much better following the eight films he starred in from 2003-2005.

Well, he has a role in the chaptered New York, I Love You later this year and has now replaced James Franco in Sympathy for Delicious opposite Mark Ruffalo and Laura Linney according to The Hollywood Reporter, a film that will also serve as Ruffalo’s directorial debut.

[EDIT]
Why wasn’t James at the Golden Globes? Mystery solved!

Wondering why James Franco skipped the Golden Globes this weekend? According to a well-placed tipster, the actor is currently enrolled in an MFA program in North Carolina. Franco allegedly skipped out early from the program to attend the Golden Globes, but, in a very Pineapple Express-ian turn of events, missed his flight and just ended up going back to the program instead. Mystery solved!

For those of you who doubted our earlier reports that James Franco was busy studying for his MFA in North Carolina instead of attending the Golden Globes, well, we think you owe us an apology. We just got off the phone with Ben Anderson, spokesperson for the Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, North Carolina, who confirmed to Vulture that Mr. Franco did indeed spend a stretch at the college’s winter residency studying poetry as part of the school’s MFA Program for Writers. We can only hope, for his sake, that he spent some time poring through the canon of e.e. cummings while there.
