He explains a bit about the film, and how he worked with James Franco as Ralston, who is trapped for most of the film:

“The bit after you saw him getting trapped in the trailer has him trying, for hours, to get out. Now we’d fixed it so he couldn’t move the rock; but by God he tried! He tried to rip that set apart. So we had two cameramen every day, because we didn’t have a villain – except for the rock, but it’s inanimate – but we’ll have two cameramen and change them so it gives him something different to do.”

When it comes to kissing, Julia Roberts is ‘not bad’ according to her Eat Pray Love co-star James Franco.

The 32-year-old jokingly tells USA Today he ‘didn’t mind’ kissing the Pretty Woman actress.

But Glee creator Ryan Murphy – who directed Eat Pray Love – swears the actor only accepted the role because he got to kiss Roberts.

Murphy says: ‘He really wanted to kiss Julia Roberts.

‘He told me that was the reason. I was like: ‘Wait I thought it was my brilliant script’.’

Franco denies that puckering up with Roberts, 42, was his motivation but he does say he had to encourage the actress to dive into their initial love scene.

‘The first day in the first scene shot for the film, I leaned in to kiss her and she said: ‘Oh, I don’t know if we should do that the first day’,’ he says.

‘I said: ‘Well, take it or leave it but I think it is important to the movie and the story’.

‘She said something like: ‘All right, the kid flew all the way from Ireland. We might as well do it’.’

Asked what kissing the Pretty Woman was like, Franco says: ‘Not bad. I didn’t mind.’

Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle’s true-life story 127 Hours, starring Spiderman actor James Franco, will open this year’s London Film Festival on August 28.

The Slumdog Millionaire director and Franco are expected to attend the premiere of the movie.

Boyle, who closed LFF in 2008 with Indian potboiler ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, said he was “honored” to draw the curtain on the fest for a second time.

The film sees Franco play mountaineer Aron Ralston and follows his true-life attempt to save himself after a falling boulder crushed his arm and trapped him in an isolated canyon in Utah in May 2003.

Over five days, he used a dull knife to amputate the limb and then scaled a 65-foot rock and hike over eight miles, before he was finally rescued by helicopter, the Variety reported.

Boyle has teamed up with Fox Searchlight Pictures, producer Christian Colson and writer Simon Beaufoy for the action drama, which is slated to release on November 5.
